Want to 'clean up your act' in your own home? Stop using chemicals for household cleaning and try this effective, homemade all-purpose cleaner:

Alice's WonderSpray™ (from Clean House, Clean Planet  by Karen Logan)

Combine the following ingredients in a 32 oz. spray bottle:

       White vinegar - 1/4 cup

       Borax - 2 tsp.

       Hot water - almost fill bottle

       Liquid Dish soap - 1/4 cup.  Add last (try Palmolive or Seventh Generation)

       Essential oil - 10 to 15 drops (optional, for scent.  try lavender or lemon)

Wet cleaning vs. Dry cleaning
Wet-based cleaning of clothes is less toxic than dry cleaning.  Most dry cleaners use perchlorethylene which is carcinogenic.  The following list of metro-area wet-based cleaners is from the Minnesota Technical Assistance Program. More information on this topic is available at their website.
